Daryl Vickery

Daryl (Big Red) Vickery, 72, beloved Husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was called to his eternal resting place on June 11, 2023. He entered this world on January 2, 1951, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, born to Kenneth and Ida-Mae Matney Vickery.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Newkirk First Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Ravan officiating. Services and cremation are in care of Miller Stahl Funeral Home of Newkirk, OK.

Daryl graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1969. He met the love of his life, Carol M. Kempf in Marshall, OK and they were married on February 24, 1973, in Arkansas City, Ks and they made their home in Ponca City, OK. They had two sons, Jeremy and Justin and they moved back to Arkansas City in 1987 where they attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Arkansas City for numerous years. Daryl was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 21 years, retiring in 1992.

Daryl enjoyed spending time with family, reading, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, ordering things off eBay and the Television, collecting knives, watching his favorite move "Ghost Rider”, ordering from Door Dash by calling his daughter in law (Heather) and saying, "Hey Lady I would like to place a order." He also enjoyed taking vacations and going to amusement parks.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Carol Vickery of the home, Two sons: Jeremy Vickery and wife Amanda Russell Vickery of Newkirk, OK and Justin Vickery and wife Heather Irvin Vickery of Geuda Springs, KS, grandchildren; Shambrie, Dakota, Corbin, Lera, Kyrston, Markayla, and Troy. Six Great grandchildren, One brother, Dwayne Vickery and wife Claudia of Wichita, KS, one sister, Debbie Unruh and husband Bob of Orlando, FL. 

Daryl was preceded in death by his mother, Ida-Mae Matney Vickery on October 21, 1984, one sister: Denise Vickery Richardson on March 8, 2019, father, Kenneth Vickery on January 28, 2022.
