Marla Faye (Burke) McBride

Marla Faye Burke McBride of Newkirk, OK passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024. Marla was 71 years old.

 Marla Faye was born on December 17, 1952, in Ponca City, OK, to Robert and Julia Ann (Goddard) Burke. Marla attended Burlington Public Schools, graduating from Burlington High School in 1971. After moving to Newkirk, Marla worked for various employers over the years. She enjoyed being a dorm parent at American Legion Children’s Home for many years and finished out her career getting to work alongside her mother, at Medical Lodge East in Arkansas City, Kansas.

 Marla was a caretaker. She delighted in helping take care of all of her “babies” over the years. Marla enjoyed crafting, sewing, and was known for her chocolate chip cookies. 

 On August 16, 2002, Marla married Adrian Daniel McBride. They enjoyed 22 years of marriage until her passing.

 Marla is survived by her husband, Adrian McBride, daughters, Shawna Burke and Stormy McBride of Newkirk, grandson, Cordell Domeny of Robinson, IL, grandson, Howdy Higgins of Newkirk, 3 great granddaughters, Kynlee Maye, Hayzlee Ann, & Heidi Jo Domeny, brothers, Bobbie (Mardeena) Burke of Bartlesville, Ronald Burke of Blackwell, Michael (Annette) Burke of Nardin, sister, Teresa (Curtis) Scott of Newkirk, 6 nephews, 5 nieces, and their families. 

 Mrs. McBride is preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother, and niece, Trisha Ann Burke.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 31st, at 1:00 pm at the Rise Up Church in Newkirk, with Brandon Pride officiating. Casket bearers will be Cordell Domeny, Howdy Higgins, Peyton Weant, Toby Weant, Eyzic Burke, Justan Burke, Brady Burke, Trenton Burke and Brandon Burke.
