Mary ‘Fran’ Frances Ames, 86, of Tulsa, OK passed from this life peacefully on March 17, 2024, after a short illness. She is preceded in death by her husband Darrell Dwayne Ames (July 8, 2002), parents, Paul Michael Purdon, Sr. and Victoria Christina Purdon (Richard), son Gregory James Osbourn, daughter Vicki Sue Ramsey (Osbourn) and brothers Jim Purdon and Paul Michael Purdon, Jr.
Fran is survived by her son Kevin Ames and his wife Mary of Tulsa, OK; sisters Kathleen Holden, Kerrville, TX and Carol Wheeler-Dodds, Fredericksburg, TX; four grandchildren; Brooke Ramsey-Gonzalez, Eric Ramsey, Mitchell Ames, Nicole Ames and four great grandchildren; Joshua Gonzalez, Bradley Ramsey, Caleb Ramsey, Millie Jo Ames and many other family and friends.
Fran was born December 10, 1937, in Hutchinson, KS. She married Darrell D. Ames, the love of her life, on September 4, 1965, in San Juan, Puerto Rico while they were living there on a work assignment. They continued to travel together extensively throughout the United States and abroad related to his work. Fran has said that of all the places she had lived, Alaska and Colorado were her favorites. After spending many years in South Fork, CO, Fran relocated to Tulsa, OK in September of 2017 to be closer to her family.
Fran had numerous interests over the years including traveling, cooking, sewing, crafting, decorating, gardening, bowling, music, and dancing and is well remembered for her sense of style and fashion and being a great host to all she welcomed. She most recently enjoyed spoiling her new great-granddaughter Millie Jo every chance she got. Fran touched many lives throughout her journey and will be dearly missed by all.
Graveside services and celebration of Fran’s life will be held at the Newkirk, OK Cemetery (3701 E. Dry Rd.) on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 2:00 p.m. with Wren Robinson officiating and service under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.millerstahl.com
