Nathan McCoy

Nathan McCoy, 85, beloved husband, Father, and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on December 15, 2024. He entered this world on February 7, 1939, in Cushing, OK, born to Glynn McCoy and L. Marietta Stevens Meng. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the Newkirk Senior Citizen Center with Pastor Adam Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Newkirk City Cemetery. A visitation will be held, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Miller Stahl Funeral Home in Newkirk, OK.

Nathan attended several schools growing up and he graduated from Newkirk High in 1958.Nathan met the love of his life, Donna M. Hudelson, and they were married on June 24, 1960, in Newkirk, OK. They moved several times from Florida, Texas and California until returning to Newkirk, OK. Nathan held many jobs throughout his life providing for his family. He was a dedicated firefighter for several years and at the time of his retirement in 1977 he was Fire Chief of the Newkirk Fire Department, after his retirement from the fire department Nathan began a career with the Kay County Sheriff department retiring as Jail Administrator with over 20 years of service. Nathan enjoyed spending time with his family. He also was a licensed gunsmith for numerous years in the Kay County area. Nathan also enjoyed wood working, carving wood stocks and grips for guns and rifles with a pocketknife, nail and hammer. 

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of Sixty-Four years, Donna McCoy of the home, one daughter, Natalie Welch of Ponca City, OK, granddaughter, Meghan Stafford and husband Brad of Ponca City, OK, great grandchildren, Breleigh Welch and Gunnar Stafford, and one nephew, Raymond D. McCoy II. 

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Dawn G. Brown, son in law, Michael L. Welch, two brothers, John McCoy and Raymond McCoy.
