Robert Lobsinger

Robert W. Lobsinger died July 25, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in the Newkirk City Cemetery. The family has asked in lieu of flowers please make donations to ALS Association.

Born February 20, 1944, in Enid, Oklahoma, he was the son of John and Catherine Lobsinger. The family moved to Lake Worth Florida where Bob grew up and attended school. He returned to Enid for his senior year and graduated from Memorial High School in 1962.

He worked at the Enid News and Eagle and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution before enlisting in the US Army and was stationed in Hakata, Japan as a Morse Code interceptor. He married Susan Roberts on June 2, 1966, and the couple raised four children.

After his discharge in 1969, Bob worked for the Enid News and Eagle, and the Ponca City News. In 1977 he purchased the Newkirk Herald Journal, operating it until his retirement in 2000. He received many awards and commendations for his journalistic work and was named the 1989 Newkirk Citizen of the Year.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, two sons, Michael and Steven, one daughter, Judy, six grandchildren, Zach and Ann Crabtree, Georgia and Mason Lobsinger, and John and Zeke Lobsinger, three brothers, Jim, Byron, and Michael, nephew Mark, and his family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John, four brothers, Dennis, Mark, John and Patrick, and one sister, Mary Ann Quinn.
