Ethel Louise Manygoats passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the age of 87. Ethel was born on September 12, 1933, to Artie Hurst and Ethel Fay (Hackler) Hurst in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She grew up on the family farm around Blackwell and attended school in the Kay County area.

Her first marriage was to Clovis Strange Jr. in Arkansas City, KS. They had one son, Dennis and one daughter, Clovia. On November 5, 1972, Ethel married Johnny Manygoats in El Paso, TX. They spent their life together in various communities, including Newkirk, OK; Bartlesville, OK; Cloudcroft, NM; and Arkansas City, KS. Ethel enjoyed various occupations in the places they lived including working at a gift shop, restaurants, an apple orchard and volunteer fire department.

Ethel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Tammy Strange of Arkansas City, KS; stepson, Harold Strange and wife Rose of Broken Bow, OK; sister-in-law, Royce Hurst of Vinita, OK; two grandchildren, Kylee Hambleton and husband Dustin of Derby, KS and Kayla Ranzau and husband Chet, of Arkansas City, KS; two step grandsons, Greg Strange and Chris Strange of Broken Bow, OK; three great grandchildren, Aleeyah Winegarner of Arkansas City, KS and Jace Hambleton and Cole Hambleton of Derby, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Artie and Ethel Hurst; husband, Johnny Manygoats; brothers, Keith Hurst, Artie Hurst and wife Lura; sister, Lois Schmidt and husband Albert; son, Dennis Strange; daughter, Clovia Strange and stepdaughter, Linda Strange.

In August of 2016, Ethel moved into Alderbrook Village assisted living facility in Arkansas City. The family is grateful for the level of care she was provided by the caring staff at Alderbrook for the five years she resided there, as well as the staff of Serenity Hospice for their excellent care in the last few months.

Graveside services are Friday, 2:00 p.m. August 6, 2021, in the Newkirk City Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Wildman officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Miller Stahl funeral home of Newkirk, OK.
