Ricky Vernon Garland of Ponca City passed away on August 13, 2021, at his home at the age of 67 years. Ricky was born on September 02, 1953, in Hobbs, NM to the late Vernon E. Garland and Edna M. (Martin) Garland.
Ricky was employed as a dishwasher for many years with South Plains College in Texas. Prior to working in Texas, he was employed with The Marland Manson where he worked as a maintenance man for numerous years. Ricky loved to watch westerns, he enjoyed wrestling and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Most importantly Ricky was a divine Christian Man. Because of his faith in the Lord, we can rest assured that Ricky is resting in the arms of Jesus in Heaven. Ricky was also a member of Bethel Fellowship Church in Levelland, TX.
Those left to cherish Ricky’s memory are: Niece, Paula Kane, Ponca City; Nephew, William Robert Daugherty, San Antonio, TX; Grand-Nephew, William Edward Daugherty, serving in U.S. Air Force in Cambridge, England; Niece, Esther Layland, Ponca City; Robert Ervis, Wichita, KS; Megan Ervis, Wichita, KS; Niece, Kirston Brown, Liby, MT; Great-Nephew, Ezra Burnett, Wichita, KS.
Ricky also leaves behind numerous other family members & friends as well as his precious & loved rat terrier, Butch.
Ricky was welcomed into Heaven by: His parents, Vernon E. & Edna M. Garland; Niece, Persilla Garland; Sisters, Helen Evernson & Pamela K. Daugherty; Brother, Davis Garland; & Beloved Scottish Terrier, Sugar Bee
Memorial services to honor & celebrate Ricky’s life will be held in Texas at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction & care of Miller-Stahl Funeral Home in Newkirk, OK. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Ponca City Animal Shelter.
