Myra Stuemky

August 16, 1944 — January 20, 2023

Myra Ann Stuemky, 78, met her Heavenly Father surrounded by family in her home on Friday, January 20, 2023, in Newkirk, OK. Myra was born on August 16, 1944, to Marvin and Beulah (Baker) Walker in Ponca City, OK.

Myra grew up with the love of her life, Robert Stuemky, attending school and singing in Youth Choir together. They began dating her Junior year at Newkirk High School, where she graduated in 1962. She attended college for one semester at Oklahoma State University, one semester at the University of Oklahoma, and then married Robert on February 15, 1964.

Myra was the ultimate home maker and was very active in her community as an original member of the Newkirk Women’s League and within First United Methodist Church. She was blessed with many great friends including her classmates of 1962 (the Ole Girls), the group lovingly called the M&M’s, and a group of best friends who remained close and supportive until the end. Myra loved to bake homemade sugar cookies with purple icing with her family who loved that she was also thoughtful enough to send them in care packages to Colorado. Myra enjoyed playing piano, sewing, gardening, singing in the church choir, camping in Colorado, and traveling to the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, NM. Myra loved a good garage sale and playing cards, but many of her most precious times were spent attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, activities and baking brownies and chocolate covered peanuts for them to enjoy.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents Marvin & Beulah Walker and her brother, Wayne Walker. She is survived by her husband Robert, sister, Marva (Walker) Wiemers of Oklahoma City; daughters Stefani Stuemky of Norman, OK; Cindy Stuemky of Silverthorne, CO and son, Brian & his wife, Laura Stuemky of Tulsa and their children Madison, Caleb & Landon. Myra was a beloved sister-in-law, aunt & cousin within the Walker and Stuemky families, became bonus grandmother to The Scarberry and Garner children, and was loved by many close friends and family in the community.
